What can we do now that we were not able to do a year ago?

One year ago,the majority of  domains are going to be online, Corona virus block everything, no attending to  school, no gatherings, no going to work, everything change. 

Nowadays, the life starts to be normal, schools open, we go to teach our  students face to face, we find more effective teaching and integration. Other, for me, now, I can use more techniques in my teaching domain, because I aquired more teachnical skills from my online experience.  Also, today I teach students easily and in an effective way because I was experiencing with teaching from the last year.  

Today, i can solve many challenges and difficults that face me in teaching by a technical solutions and that by using several tools and applications.

Challenges of learning/ teaching online.

 Due to the corona virus pandemic and the extraordinary situation lockdown, all educational process going to be online and use technology as a primary source for learning. 

As teacher, many problems can face us, first is internet connectivity, not all time it good, so it disconnects during session, and cause miss understanding of idea for students. Also, it is difficult for teacher to engage students for longer period of time, they can easily get distracted during live session. Furthermore, the difficulty of communication of teacher during online class, Online teaching is like communicating without body language, so students might misunderstand and can result in poor performance. In addition, as for the feedback problem, where teacher find it difficult to give feedback for all students individually, so for me, did not find proper methods of providing feedback to all the students.

  • On the other hand,as for students 's challenges in the learning process:

 -  How to adapt to an Online learning (especial at the beginning)

- Technical issues

- Computer knowledge problems 

- Distraction issues 




To avoid problems when working online.

 There are many rules that must be taught to students when working online to avoid problems.

 First, we can mention the training and give instruction to students on how they use Internet programs. Also, organize the time in a way that is in line with the circumstances (such the power outages for examples). And students should try to be more serious. 

Second, students should know that the learning online, is like the learning in school, they are obligated  to attend the online session to well understand the concept. Also, they should know that they are responsible to participate if teacher ask them, not to turn off the mike.Some students students feel like they don’t have to be involved in online class discussions, even when it’s required by teacher.

Teacher has a role in informing students that they responsible to submit asseigments or exams on time to avoid the lose of grades or the late submission. So teacher can set a reminders for asseigments and send it to students one week before the submission deadline.

In addition ,it is essentiel to help students who had a poor computer skills,to avoid the computer knowledge problem,because some students face difficulties with live classes, usage of appropriate tools and apps, MS office,or browsing study materials.

Why we teach students science ?

Scientific skills are integral to every aspect of a student’s education and life, from school to career. So, it seems important to teach the scientific method to students to provide them with skills of how to think, learn, solve problems and make informed decisions

Also, science teaches students about the world around them and it enhances creativity, because experimenting requires trial and error so students try many times and new ideas that fosters creativity. In addition, when students discover something on their own and become a self-taught or independent learner is lifelong process 

:so ,we teach teach science to 

provide students with tools to understand the world -  

be able to use the scientific methods -  

develop inquiry ability -  

  - develop descriptive and explanation skills

Be a digital citizen

A digital citizen is a person than can be an internet user, it is to be responsible and able to use social networking sites and web or other internet applications. Person should had skills to effectively use digital technologies to participate in society. Also, it is essential to know the rules that should follow it to be safe in the field, as an internet user, we should protect our privacy, respect other and use our mind, so using the think rule.
 
So as teacher of student, to be a good digital citizen should follow some rules:

  • Keep privacy
  • Be yourelf
  • Respect other(avoid bullying)
  • Always be nice

It is important to teach students to be a good digital citizen by helping them learn to engage within a digital environment with responsibility and confidence to develop as leaders who will leave meaningful impacts in the lives of others,and provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in this huge world.






Tools for online assessment

 There are different tools that can be used in online assessment, such as :

  Google forms, which helpful for doing exam, or quizzes based on their many available features. 


Poll everywhere ,teachers can create questions like multiple choice options and share it with students to answer it.We can ask questions during  lessons, see live data, and reports


Mentimeter is one of tools used for assessment which can used to do revision,  and to ask questions . It lets us add polls, word clouds, Q&As, and more to presentations and create an interactive experience for students, who can vote on/respond to questions and engage with the presentation in real time.  


Kahoot, which is a game - based assessment tool, where teahers can create learning games for students.


Jamboard , is a cloud-based, whiteboard application that can be used for collaboration.


Padlet,it allows students and teacher to create online board to share and collaborate and we can share just about any type of information–text, links, upload files, photos, videos, just about any kind of response.



Integration technology into teaching

 In my opinion, integration technology into teaching has a main role in

facilitate teaching process, it makes it easy. Also, it increase student's

engagement in classroom which then emphases the outcomes of

students. Technology encourages active participation by using different

tools, presentations, educational games….

In addition, technology has role in enhance peer collaboration, when students work in group using some applications or tablets ,students help each other by assisst technology skills for less skilled students. 

 Furthermore, it helps teachers improve their lesson plans,and it improves the students performance what always teachers want to do .




What is EDUC561 class ?

 EDUC 561, is a course in Teaching Diploma where we learn how we can integrate technology strategies in education and how we use it in learning process in order to enhance it and facilitate the delivery of information to students. It is a helpful class that prepare future teacher to be more knowledgeable in technology and know more about useful applications in the educational field.

In my opinion, i found it very important and helps me in my teaching domain and how i can use some new tools and benefit from it in preparing assessment and planing for lessons .
